ARCHIMEDES SCREW TURBINE

Principles

Turbines driven by the hydro-kinetic propulsion are highly reliable power plants for obtaining electricity from renewable sources with a minimum effect on the environment. This is a modern utilization of technology which has been known as the Archimedes screw since ancient Greece. This water motor can be characterized as an active turbine which utilities the action of the water weight on the screw blades which makes it turn. This rotation is transfering via the gearbox into the generator.
